Ive been nosing around here for a while and see that some are saying if you put an after market exhaust on you lose power? any truth to this? I was wanting to do something to get a tad louder exhaust note while gaining in performance?

The stock exhaust is 2" from the exhaust manifolds to the inlet of the mufflers then 2-1/2" from the outlet of the mufflers to the resonator tips. There are also two catalytic converters on each side. I don't see how putting on a larger after market exhaust could hurt performance. However, most engines are designed to have some back pressure, so going to open headers would probably hurt performance on a stock Marauder engine.
Headers , or a Stainless works full exhaust will help performance greatly , if headers are done a tune is needed.

On a N/A Marauder the stock system flows pretty well. The choke point is the mid-pipe. If you just want loud try removing the 2nd set of cats, delete the resonator tips or try a muffler swap.
Come to Carlisle in June and you can listen to other members rides and see if any of them suit your fancy.
If only we could have gotten enough people to do another run of the res delete tips
