I installed a different sub in the subbox. On a few songs it buzzed a little but not enough to bother me much so I let it sit....for about 10 years. The surround of the speaker was being pressed on by the edge of the foam. I finally got around to fixing it but now it looks like this:

note the flat side. The deformation causes the buzzing. When pushed back the buzzing goes away.

What would be the best way to get it back into shape? Right now I just poke it a bit when I park my car. I don't think heat would work since it is (i think) butyl rubber and is vulcanized. Does the surround have any memory left of its original shape at this point? Will it eventually pop out on its own?

Boy, you let something sit for a little bit of time and suddenly it is hard to fix! who would have known?
