What is the thinking behind the 9.0 rear end?
I want a fully independent rear-end suspension (IRS) to improve cornering capabilities. Lifespeed and I are not interested in straight line speed as much as cornering. I think (not know) a 9.0 IRS would do wonders to yield better overhaul handling. A IRS would also support JRi rear coilovers vs separates.

Supposedly, new IRS systems deliver what I seek.

Can a Marauder hold its own on the track with a Lamborgini?

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To make a short story long I own an 04 DTR Marauder. It has had all the Dennis, Zack/Mac majic done to it. In the past 2 years it has won 3rd then 2nd place in the All Ford Nationals at Carlisle, PA.
I am a member of the Eastern Pantera Club. We co sponsor a track event at Pocono International Raceway yearly with various other Italian Car Clubs such as Lamborgini, Maserati, and Ferrari. Since my Pantera is in pieces I asked and was permitted to bring the Marauder to the track to run. As I stated in a post a while back I am not a drag racer. I use my car every day and in the snow so I opted for a centrifigul vs. roots type supercharger. I have not changed my rear end ratio. I do however like to run in track events.
Well I lined up to run with 19 other cars, all newer model Italian high performance exotic cars. We run NASCAR wise, counter clockwise. We used turn 1, turn 2, then an infield course that has a 270, three 90's, two 75 degree turns and a chicane, then we enter back onto the main staight with 2/3 of that straight available before turn 1.
Well boys and girls I have to tell you after 5 laps everyone in attendance was looking at this Canadian maufactured, Dearborn Sedan. It ate cars like it was at an Italian buffet. Not only did the Marauder hold it's own on the banked turns it passed most and stayed with the best of them in the infield. Comming out of the infield onto the main straight I devoured them. The available touque was awsome. I ran with the antilock brakes and overdrive off. Down the straight going into turn one, 135 mph+ easy. 130 mph+ into turn 2 and an average speed through the infield of 60+ mph.
The transmission mods worked great, that baby knew when to down shift upon hard braking. The supercharger spun up smoothly so the ass end never kicked out. Dennis's total package and the Zack/Mac control arms worked flawlessly.
After I came off the track nearly everone came over to see the car. Most of these folks told me they thought it was a joke putting the DTR on the track against these 6 figure cars. On day two I repeated the same results. No fluke.
A lot of exotic car owners have a new found respect for our "Family Sedans / Cop Cars". Needless to say I had a blast.
Sorry for the long story but I just had to brag a little. Enjoy your Marauders they are all special.

Need it? I do not understand. On a more serious note, the theory is sound. Someone has to install an IRS with high performance front and rear coilovers to qualify the benefits. Of all our members, Lifespeed is who I would ask first.

I get someone saying, 'why didn't you just buy a late model muscle car or something'? I live my Marauder and enjoy making the most out of the car.

Per my above post - "...Italian Car Clubs such as Lamborgini, Maserati, and Ferrari...", "...It ate cars like it was at an Italian buffet. Not only did the Marauder hold it's own on the banked turns it passed most and stayed with the best of them in the infield. Comming out of the infield onto the main straight I devoured them.".

All done with the only suspension mod - "Zack/Mac control arms".

Damn! And you explained well need vs want.

Imagine the exotic car owners continually see a Marauder hanging with them. I would love to have heard what they were saying.

Wow! So respectful and helpful. I hope the member reveals their identity. But, out of respect for their privacy, I cannot.

This is a typical example of the members here: always willing to help. Given my low knowledge of cars in general, I need all the help I can get.

I installed 8-rib on mine, not going to puzzle over belt slippage problems as I adjust the boost to meet my goals. And an older Cobra 3-bolt timing cover to support the herky tensioner. Might want to have a discussion with myself, Chris and Marty on your new supercharger drive setup.

So you just don't "need" to beat the "Italian Exotics" you "want" to slaughter them?

    Merriam Webster definition - Marauder
: one who roams from place to place making attacks and raids in search of plunder

I'm going to proceed with three-link (torque arm) suspension and keep the solid axle. It has a fantastic feel, and handles high horsepower better than anything.

    I can attest to a single bolt Thump holding up well for;
Vortech Super Charger V-2 “T” Trim, 19 PSI
8 Rib Belt, Innovators West 10% Overdrive Dampner.

Got 50,842 miles on the previous Thump.

I don't know, my MM corners like a sports car.

I blow everyone's mind when I take 40mph curves at 60/70mph perfectly flat and glued to the road.

Don't see the need for IRS cost, put the $ elsewhere.

Set the MM up with available RS goodies and some sticky rear tires (MT drag radials 12"wide) and see what it does. You'll like!

I am following what you, Sailsman and so many others already know. I bought the timing cover you recommended. 8-rib pulleys and belts can wait for Marty to select and buy. I bought the timing cover so I can get it powder coated in Hello Kitty wrap.

Just kidding. I am changing the MMR valve covers, which are powder coated glossy black to sterling charcoal gun metal. I hope the following parts next to one another will pop!
    a. sterling charcoal gun metal valve covers with blue inserts
    b. indigo blue fuel rails
    c. Metco pulleys with glossy black outer with polished inner

    Example:
