TC and OD with spirited drving

I'm too old and cautious now to worry about this for street driving but I still do actually take my car to the track once in awhile.

I remember we need to turn OD off but recently I read someone floored their car with TC on and it may have hurt the trans. Can someone clarify when these two items should be turned off with a little bit of an explanation of why. Thanks.

You need to turn OD off BEFORE you punch it because the tranny will downshift from 4th to 2nd and will potentially blow the OD band as it is one of the weaker parts. That's my understanding.
