There is a wealth of information out there but all of it is for pre-2002 Ford products. Those vehicles have a two piece EGR system, an EGR valve and a DPFE (differential pressure feedback exhaust sensor)
Our cars 2003/04 Marauders and CV's GM's 2003 and up used a combined EGR assembly. The theory of operation and trouble codes are prolly the same.
The cost of the assembley is around $250 from FLM. Discounts may apply. Aftermarket stores may also carry the product but from reports I've seen they are more failure prone.
A big thanks to "Too Many Fords" AKA John of prorauder fame for straightening out this defugulity for me.
Changing the combined assembly fixed my problem and what went wrong on the old one was that a wire had broken off the relay termainal in the plastic DPFE portion. But it was impossible to "fish" out so..............time for a new one.
Tip on disassembly. Use a "break free" on the exhaust feed pipe and soak the threads for 15 minutes. Use an open end wrench and take care not to twist the pipe. The slightest leak will cause the car to throw a code.
My pipe jam nut came off easily. Also, do not take the piple out of the valve but move the valve from the pipe, that way there's no bending.
check the vacumn hoses for dry rot.
Total repair time, less than an hour.
The codes associated with this EGR system are P14XX.
Now, the EGR system is not so scary.
