Cool Marauder Cranks - no Start - Need Fuel Pump Part number Info

    All,

Went to start my 18,000 Mile black Marauder for it's quarterly long warm up and 6 block drive... and it wouldnt start . (Note: Started on first compression/turn 3 months ago -- as it always had).

Checked all the posts I could find on this topic.

    New Charged battery.
Gently tapped on and then moved and replaced new relays and fuses
Checked Fuel Pump button in trunk
not so gently beat the hell out of the gas tank with rubber mallet (as some suggested)

Fuel pump is simply not priming or pumping when key is first turned. Note: I checked all three other Panthers I have, and while they each make a unique sound - they do make a fuel pump sound when key is first turned -- while the Black makes no sound at all.

Brother Marty said to replace the pump - and I trust this advice and am working on this now; the local stealership said the pump is NA, item number Ford 3W1Z9H307AB is NLA.

Question is: What fuel pump - part number should buy to replace this with? Found New Old Stock Ford (above) unit on Ebay... Is there a better pump out there or should I stay with stock?

Also any other helpful advice on "Crank but no start" Marauder issue accepted gratefully. WHERE on the gas tank should I pound? Should KEY be on when I pound on it? I would really like NOT to tow the beast to the mechanic.

    Thanks in advance.

Marauder Cranks - no Start - Need Fuel Pump Part number Info

I’d smack the tank with the key on and air ride OFF.

As for a pump, I’ve always been happy with Aeromotive 340. Fits right in.

Did you try a different key? It’s been quite a number of years since my key failed me but I thought it turned over but had no spark or fuel? Yep, turned that garbage off in the tune!

Check the FPDM (Fuel Pump Driver Module). It's in the trunk on the left side. Small square box. Unplug it, cycle the key on then off again and then plug it back in. Mine failed after I installed a new battery. Almost pulled the trigger on a fuel pump. Bought a used FPDM over a year ago and it's been running great ever since.

Had this issue with Ms.D's SB a few years ago. Did what you did and didn't get anywhere. I even rocked the car back and forth as hard as I could. At that time the car had about 1/2 tank. I dumped a few gallons in it and presto the pump started working. Must have rusted or something while it sat for an extended time and the flow of new fuel broke it free. Pump lasted two years before finally giving up the go. Got a Motorcraft replacement from RockAuto and the dealer installed it. Before the dealer pulls your tank have them check to make sure the pump is getting power at the tank end. Also get the tank strap replacement bolts, not 100% necessary, but makes it much easier to replace the tank.

Thanks for checking back in. I did all suggested above -- Filled w more gas, and rocked car as hard as possible (may get more guys to help --as I like to ROCK!). Still nothing. Found and Ordered OEM NOS pump and just recieved it.

Stealership says 2.6 hours ($440 labor) plus the part I bought.

issue now is tow from house to Stealership. Really don't want to do this if I can avoid it. Also now raining here (I know, at a cold 50 degrees this is rough right?), as car hadn't been rained on, or driven in rain for at least 8 to 10 years (if ever), and is showroom new clean top to bottom, and everywhere else.

Was wondering if I inserted an Oklahoma gas card (long hose) and rocked car, if maybe I could bump pump and get it to fire and start working as Mr Man indicated above.

Wish there was a local Marauder expert nearby. Any other ideas please post.

Also check the PATS fuse. Mine blew and had a no start no crank situation.
Replaced the fuse and car started.
