The Prius most likely has an electric parking brake which is self adjusting.
On top of everything discussed, the E-brake system on these cars is garbage. It provides so little braking force it is very easy to power through the E-brake when set (if it doesn't auto release) and not realize till a little way down the road when you start smelling something burning.
It's always been a poor design as far back as I can remember to Corvettes.
I was amazed to find it on the MM and my F150 as I figured the design had been sunsetted a long time ago.
I figured I'd find the in-caliper E-brake system like my Tbird and MkV had - that E-brake had holding power.

Parked at an incline and put the car in neutral. Would roll back. Put the parking brake on and car didn't move. So looks like my parking brake is as intended. Guess our brakes just can't fight giving it some gas in reverse though.
