    Ecm compatibility with tuner

This is not ment to be a sale thread but a info question.

I asked in a Facebook group, but want to get as much info as I can.

I have a 03 marauder that is Marty tuned. I still have the sct tuner.

I no longer need the ecm in my car. So the ecm and the sct are no longer of use to me. I would like to sell them as a pair. My hope is that somebody can buy them and swap their ecm and now be tuned. I'm aware of the vin mismatch, but to my knowledge that shouldn't raise any concerns unless specifically looked at to see if they match... Maybe emission testing? Pats should already be disabled in my tune in the ecm.

Is there any other concerns that could arise?

It would probably make sense to un-lock (return to factory setting) the SCT tuner and sell that separately. if that can be done.

My thought process is its worth more if somebody who wanted to tune there car, they can plug my ecm in and then be tuned. And still have there ecm if they wanted to return to stock

Having an extra ecm with sct tune is no different than the ecm in a car with sct tune. Factory tune is held in the SCT unit. No need for swapping ecm. You should have returned your motor to stock before ls swapping. An unmarried SCT with tune would have been sold by now, you won't be getting extra $ for a married ecm

My understanding even unmarried, the sct tune loaded in it is specific to the vin in the ecm as it's not canned sct tuning loaded in it but rather tunes I had Marty write for it. Considering he asks for the vin and processor code prior to ordering the sct.

And I can still power the ecm in the car to Unmarry.

I don't know what the cost of a replacement ecm, but figured it was worth more with the tuner then w/o. Somebody might like the idea of having a spare around.

Unmarry and sell the SCT then list the PCM separate.
Willing to bet someone doing a DOHC swap in an older car will swipe it right up

I would keep your ecm to control the AC functions in the car

What's an unmarried sct x4 with Marty tunes worth? I searched the sale section and didn't come up with any real threads for market pricing lol.

This makes the most sense. Unmarried SCT xcal4 ,check eBay, prolly $200-250 plus additional with tune
