New York Fall Fun Run 2019 commitment vote

EVENT CANCELED reason: lack of interest

New York Fall Fun Run 2019 commitment vote

This event does not have the support of management, however I have decided to move forward. My wife and I are doing this trip this fall and would love for others to join us.

The VOTE is determine if there is enough commitment to rent the track for just us for the day. Renting the Toronto track for the entire day would be about $4300 Canadian dollars. $4300 in US dollars is about $3200. $3200 divided by 20 cars would be $160 per car. That is a great price for an all day event.
https://torontomotorsportspark.com/road-course-rental/ I need about 20 people to make a real commitment I am willing to front some of the cost but will not front the cost for everyone.

I am being conservative and estimating 25-30 cars about 30-40 people might be willing to join us. We are doing multiple locations to accentuate that this is a driving event ending with a road coarse run. For cost reasons the most affordable track in the area was in Canada. Therefore for this to work for most you will need a minimum of a passport card (or passport).

    https://www.rushmypassport.com/blog/...et-a-passport/

The passport card is $65 per person. Another advantage to renting the track in Canada is that it is about 20% off due to exchange rate. Track cost will be less than $160/person if 20 cars commit to attend. This will be more than just a one or two laps event and will not be speed limited to 55 or 65. See details later in the day 5 description.

Background. Fall colors in New York are best the second week of October historically and generally do not conflict with many other events. The second and third weeks of October also have lower lodging rates (rates in New York are higher than most other locations). Watkins Glen raceway is too expensive to rent and open track days are usually pretty full and open days are first come first serve at Watkins Glen. Suggestion was made about Toronto Raceway Park and after contacting them it is very affordable and they are flexible (Sometimes with larger groups of 10 and over we will extend a discount if the payment for all registered drivers is coordinated well in advance of the date you would like to attend.) Speeds are allowed over 120mph.

I want to give participants 9 months to get passports and request time off. The event would start on October 14th (Monday) and end on October 17 (Thursday).

Here is a good summary of the restrictions and a summary of the process to request approval if you have current restrictions.

Over 400 views and only 2 people committed. Currently I am very disappointed in the interest.

It's a good looking itinerary, and for everyone who complained about the lack of Marauderville meets, this is as good as any MV.

Unfortunately, my 28-day rotations at work show me on the 'relief' shift during from 10/6 to 11/2. My days off, as well as my shift assignments, won't get assigned until two weeks before that rotation starts. I have serious interest in the road course event, though, so I marked 'maybe'. For $160 I might be willing to drop the coin on it, even if I ultimately cannot attend.

I'll have to rouse some of my CVN pals who rarely check in here (paging Serge...) - two of them live within 3 minutes of the Peace Bridge and thus are right on top of this event.
