    Correct OEM part # for Engine pistons & piston ring

    Hi Guys,,

    Time has come now to get my beauty 2004 dtr marauder back to life. Dou to personal commitment, I wasn't able to repair the misfired engine & decided to keep her in my garage since last sep'17.

    Anyway, mechanic requested me new engine pistons with rings in addition to other parts.

    I got piston rings part #Piston Rings - Ford (6L3Z-6148-A) but did not fit on stock piston while dealer is telling it should fit mercury marauder as well as crown vic & grand marquis (as per shown to them in system)!!

    If anyone has experience with the correct oem part no. for piston & ring to enable me ordering it online and avoid getting marquis/crown vic parts by mistake

    I would think you would need Aviator or Mach1 pistons. Ford dealer should know the MM is a DOHC engine not a SOHC.

    Check with Marty at MO'S (vendor)he can probably get you hooked up with the best and correct products.

    Actually, I already did compare the parts for marauder along with lincoln aviator & mustang mach 1 & got the correct part #

    1- engine piston # 2C5Z-6108-AB
    2- piston ring # 2F3Z-6148-BA

    I'm almost to place my order with one of ford parts dealers in OH. (Beechmont) but the guy telling the available piston only grade 1? Is this for standard piston size ? as he sent lengthy manual without mentioning if it's for standards or oversized piston ?

    Waiting your response pls.

    I took a look at MMR website & found pistons & connecting rods with prices better than other websites but I don't know which is suitable for my rebuild !!

    I want to keep the engine on high compression same as stock with a future plan to boost it with max. 550+rwhp.

    Any suggestion on aftermarket pistons & connecting rods with good prices!!

    You don't want stock pistons and rings for boost anyway.

    As complete head valves need to be replaced & I already have mmr ss valves set which I believe the high mileage rings(180,xxx ) will not withstand. So, I found it a good opportunity to replace high mileage pistons & rods with aftermarker ones.

    Yup. But stock 6 bolts crank can handle upto 600hp, am I right?

    I heard the cast crank was good to 600 horsepower at the crank. which should be around 500 at the wheels. if you want 600 at the wheels you're going to need a forged crank. unless you just want to gamble. You could always be the guinea pig. and let us know how much horsepower it takes to break a stock crank. Lol

    I've heard cast crank good for 600+ rwhp...so 750 crank..everything is s gamble in reality. Most people go to 8 bolt cranks when building motors

    Yes very true. I didn't know that were rated for that much that's really not too bad. totally agree on the gamble side of it though.
