    One wheel tire 'o fire...

Did the uncharacteristic this evening and jumped on the throttle with both feet like a pogo stick. The 32 valves came alive, the 4.10 gears meshed and the control arms reared up and planted the tires to the ground with no drama. However, only the right rear tire lit on dry pavement leaving 80 feet of smoke and graffiti.

At 51K miles could the rear clutches be gone already? I don't abuse this car. The rear was opened a decade ago for the FRPP gears to be installed. New crush collar, lube, and friction modifier installed. That was at around 30K miles.

No noise, no ratcheting, no shudder. Just a single wheel peel.

Damn I'd like to think I don't need to replace the clutches already.

First time this has been a concern based on tire bark on the 1 - 2 shift that leaves siamese marks on pavement. Thoughts?

The one wheel peel is embarrassing... especially when participating in an unofficial speed contest ( in Mexico of course)
You could do what I witnessed years ago on a transformer looking Camaro (i.e. beat to crap).
The guy's Posi was gone, so he put a big fat tire.....on the right rear only.

My factory clutches lasted til about 80k miles, but results may vary.

Just do the cobra clutch pack + F150 S spring and be done with it. Will be a good time to check on how the axles are doing as well.

For those who have done the cobra clutch pack and the F150 S Spring, what is your opinion and experience of it?

It's a lot grippier than stock, especially around turns. I've noticed I can provoke a power slide easier if I want to.

Is the F150 spring different than what comes in the Ford Racing diff carrier?

Since the ford racing diffs come with the carbon clutch pack, and normally the carbon clutch packs come with the F150 spring, I'm pretty confident it also has the F150 S spring.

F150 and Cobra = 31 spline and same larger S spring to clear the C clips

Everything else = 28 spline and smaller S spring.

    28 spring won’t fit in a 31 set up.

31 will fit a 28 set up but is highly debatable if any better. IMO if you have to tweak a spring or partially collapse it you are changing its tension properties and best off with a new 28.

    My opinion, others vary.

Either way will work if you can get it in.
