The 6-speed in my 2005 Montego has been experiencing hard downshifts recently. Only after it's warmed up, and mostly at lower speeds. Sometimes it really bangs into gear, and may shudder approaching stops. Are these signs of impending doom?

I have a 2010 Milan, had a rough shift, I drained and refilled the transmission fluid, shift issue went away. It was Mercon LV fluid and IIRC about 3 qts came out. Have to take off the plastic shroud then it is easy as an engine oil change. No filter to change.
