    Rear bumper cover

Anyone have a line on a rear bumper cover? My father hydroplaned the 03 on an on ramp this week and backed the rear corner into a tree. The bumper support bar ripped thru the cover and the shop does not expect the repair weld to work. The rest of the items we expect to find a bit easier but who knows. Any guidance would be nice.

    Thanks

Honestly, unless you have a hole in the rear bumper cover (I can't tell by the pic), it may still be repairable. How does the rest of the bumper look? Is it just pushed in or are there areas that are torn?

I have a set of OEM Marauder taillights in good condition with black trim I can sell you. Probably $125.00 or $150.00 shipped.

Thanks guys. The quarter is gonna need plenty of work so we are waiting on what the shop says. The shop already welded the other side of this original cover a few years back when it was damaged but they think this damage is gonna be tough. Here are some better pics.

Have them or someone really competent weld it. Then keep your eyes open in the mean time for a replacement in case the weld fails. Finding a rear bumper isn't easy.

    Insurance will total it.

My brother was re-ended in his 1988 Grand Marquis. To keep the value of the damage below the total threshold, he did some of the repairs himself before letting insurance see it. Kept the damage under the totaling amount so insurance did repair some of it and they did not total it.

Six months later or so, another guy ran into the back of his 1988 Grand Marquis. This time the damage was more extensive. He went ahead and went to the insurance company with the car as is. They totaled it. However, he did still fix it up and went to Brake and tailight inspection, CHP inspection, etc. to get the salvage title back to a normal title. So I guess if you love the car, there are still options to get it back on the road.
