Trying to start rebuilt engine. Gassing plugs

I have everything installed and plugged in. Engine turning over but will not fire no other than a little hint when it’s first turned over. Pulled the plugs and they all have gas on them. What could I have missed? Any idea? If I hold the throttle down it tries to hit.

Might just be flooded. If you have the gas pedal floored, it should shut off the injectors... your saying it tries to hit? Have you verified spark?

Just verified spark and used a noid setup to verify pulse at injectors. Test #1 harness.

You have fuel air and spark. Now the question is is it just flooded and or does it sound funny when you crank the engine over? Timing correct?

I I’ll say it doesn’t sound the same as the stock engine when turning it over, but even with the broke ringland the stock engine started and ran ok minus the miss it had at cylinder 3.

The timing chains and guides are new and they were supposedly timed correctly. Engine has been put together a few years, and honestly we didn’t check it again before installing. If all else fails, that will have to be checked.

Agreed. I’m leaning towards the timing possible being off unless there is something else I don’t know about.

If it was too far out of time it would have already bent some of your valves so I’m doubting it isn’t by much if so.

At this point the simplest thing to do is blow out the cylinders and try a new set of plugs. And double check all connections around the engine are fully clicked on.

I’ve double checked everything a few days ago prior to adding oil and coolant. I have my mind already set on pulling the cover and checking the timing. My DA should have double checked it while I had the engine out and the cover off. Live and learn.

Don’t rely on the links lining up because once spun, they don’t. Just make sure the marks are all lined up.

Sounds like your not getting any air??, is this car supercharged? if so sure you never plugged or capped the blower inlet so debris wouldn't get in and just forgot to remove it, sounds like my buddy's car just a hint of ignition and the plugs were wet.

Lol. You could be on to something. I did have the procharger rebuilt and it came back with all the openings taped off. I could have easily installed the procharger with the outlet end taped up and forgot to remove the tape. . If this is true, I would have noticed it when I removed the procharger in order to start removing the timing cover. This would be hilarious and a relief. I’m definitely pulling the pipe this afternoon to see if that tape is still there. It would have been a little hard to tell when I pushed the pipe up from underneath the car as the tape over the hole is/was black. . I’ll definitely report back this evening. Smh!!

That wasn’t it. We are going to try and start it without the procharger hooked up to see what happens. If that fails we plan on pulling the covers and checking everything. That’s all I know to do

Trying to start rebuilt engine. Gassing plugs

Hey guys. Before I get the covers pulled. I want to make sure I’m understanding how the cam orientation should be. I’m looking at the manual online and it appears the RH side cams should be oriented with the notches down at 6 o’clock and the LH side the cams should be oriented with the notches up at 12 o’clock as shown in the pic below

Then of course the chains should be as shown here when everything is in time. I’m just making sure I understand this correctly before we go in.

Once you fuel foul a plug with unleaded gas the plug is junk...

Try what Jbob said, dry cyls & new plugs. You mat be making the issue more complicated than it actually is.
