The air compressor often does that when turning off the engine--has on all my Vics since the '95 and even does it now and then on the Marauder---so this is first problem with any I have owned---but that doesn't replace a part going bad as the one shown in your pic--understand---just wonder its cause as I don't think 112K miles is necessarily the cause--just thinking out loud …..nice work on its repair--must refer to you for tech help when needed in the future----Hoped those books helped on this??
