Bought a 2003 Marauder for my wife, not sure she is gonna keep it ...

Bought it up here in Maine, very little rust, must not of been driven in the winter. We live up here (South Portland) in the summer and she needed a car to run around in. Like I said not sure if she is going to keep it.

Thanks for the great forum for a great car.

(We bought a new SS Impala back in 96, I think it was a tad quicker than the MM )

Welcome! Had regular customers in Westbrook, ME and Bangor, ME before retiring in recent years. Our NE US members would probably be interested in your car should you wish to sell it. No big secret Marauder needed a messaged 5.4L 4 valve, Terminator, or even the originally proposed 4.6 2 valve supercharged motor. Thinking the writing was already on the wall when the 1999-2001 cobra motor was chosen for economics. Same motor moved the Mach 1/4R70w around very well, but was 720 lbs. lighter than the Marauder.

Actually the original motor Steve Babcock wanted was a pushrod 5.0l, but that's a story for another time.

Congratulations on your new to you Marauder. The SS is slightly quicker on launch, but once the MM gets moving they are on par with each other.

The Marauder was built for a specific market.

I suggest you get rid of it ASAP. People have a much higher crash rate on cars they don't like.

Welcome! I have driven my share of LT1 Chev-Marauders.

    --seats are flat and slippery
--engine has more low end than a MM, probably about the same 1/4 mile, especially after you get a tune. 1996 and 2003 were different centuries and different demands from the EPA
    --MM's handle way better
--There's room at the cruise in for both!

Get a MOs speed shop tune for it (in vendor section) wakes the car right up. Changes all the crappy factory shifting, will want to keep it then

Nice looking car. +1 for MartyO in Dallas, GA. My car was/is in top condition and ran well, but some well thought out mods allow Marauder to drive like it was meant to IMO.

    K&N CAI
    Rear Cylinder Head Cooling Mod
    Custom COT Fill Cap
    Custom 93 tune (I use 93 E0 exclusively as it's available here)
    Valve body Jmod
    3000rpm stall torque converter
    4:11 rear gears
    Ford Racing Diff Cover
Custom Transmission Tailshaft Housing that has active rear bearing lubrication built in

Car probably has about 30 more hp and an equal amount of torque at the wheels. No serious fuel mileage penalty. Marauder already more comfortable than the 94-96 Impala SS and now feels notably quicker. Inlaw owned a stock '96 and says my car is definitely quicker and he likes my car much better, now that it's been 'kicked up' a bit. He claims he drove a stock Marauder at a dealer back in the day and it definitely needed 'more oats'. They were built to be more of a 'boutique car' than a performance car anyway. These cars are easy to maintain and are built like tanks. Many Marauder exclusive parts are now difficult to get but this 'Panther Platform' car can be maintained by any competent mechanic. Keep in mind they are getting along in years so be prepared to have the typical repairs done common to 16yo cars.

Welcome to the MODNESS! As said above a tune from Marty will wake the car up and drive much better. I know it has on the several I have owned. Enjoy your new ride!

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome and great info!

After talking to her this last weekend about her car, she has decided to sell it. I bought it as a summer only car up here in South Portland, ME. The problem is it’s just a bit large to get around and park it. Space is at a premium around these parts so I’ll just sell it and get her something small

I’ll post it here first to give y’all a chance at it, if no interest here I will post it in the usual places.

Thank you again for a great forum with excellent participation.
