are 2003 and 2004 Marauder alternators the same? Interchangable?

I am looking for a 175-200 amp alternator. It seems like there are a lot more choices for the 2004 Marauder verses the 2003 in terms of high output units Is there a difference in the two?
Can a 2004 Alternator be used on a 2003? Is the connection the same?

    Thanks again for the help

    Buck

I thought so but thanks for the confirmation. I was wondering why many of the sellers (such as Rock Auto) list different availability for the 2004 vs 2003.

    Hello.
I am looking to purchase a new alternator because my current is making noises.
Rockauto has some listed there but they are listed to fit crown Victoria and grand marquis as well. How is this possible? I thought the marauder alternator was different from the others.
Can someone confirms if they are interchangeable or if it's safe to purchase?

The MM uses a 4G regulator and has a clutched pulley. I would imagine a CV or GM alt would fit in the space, but it is not an interchangable part.

If you didnt know, some say the grand marquis one with the clutch like the marauder is the same and will work. Me personally, i have a fleet of marauders and when one craps out i buy a used one from www.car-part.com .... I buy used marauder ones for about 50 bucks , here is one at LKQ for 60 shipped... https://www.ebay.com/itm/2003-Mercur...temCondition=4

It absolutely is an interchangeable part, I've been running an alternator off a 2004 sport on my 03 Marauder for the past 20,000 miles now.

Does the Sport use a 4G alt? You are the only person I've seen post such a thing.

Hey Ryan, have you checked if the dash light has been removed or isn’t blown? All I’ve ever read is it may work but the light won’t shut off?

I was told by Ford that Marauder regulator is Marauder specific, using a CV or GM alt may work but will give troubles.

Maybe someone else can post up if Ford told me right or wrong.

    Good luck OP!

The difference is the clutched pully.
On the MM at WOT the PCM shuts the alternator off to gain a few ponies. (Less drag)
The CV alternator wont have this feature.
