    Almost time

As the temperature drops it's almost time to get her ready for a long winters nap. Curious if people change their oil before or after they put their Marauder up. I do mine after.

    I do before and after
You "feel" the difference because you want to "feel" the difference. Since you just spent money on the upgrade you "have" to feel the difference

I'm looking to eliminate the double pump process I have to follow right now to get the pedal hard

Neither really. Usually just sometime before it gets too hot out.

Battery tender, car cover, and done.

Should always change your oil on a car that sits for long periods after it has sat and before you begin driving it again regularly. Condensation forms in the oil pan and waters down your oil. You can see the evidence of this on your oil cap like when a head gasket goes bad.

    I change it before because...

As you drive and run the engine, contaminants build up in the oil, including acids. If it sits all winter with old oil, the metals are exposed to those acids all winter. By changing it in the Fall the oil sitting in the engine is clean all that time.

I change both Marauders once a year, just before I put them away. Don't have condensation issues because they're heated.

    Both

Stored with dirty oil the impurities mixed with any moisture from condensation will eat away at bearing surfaces.

After sitting all winter, the condensation that builds up while engine not run to eliminate it will cause impurities in oil (and there are a lot even after oil change as there is oil in engine/pan that doesn't drain) to turn acidic.

Only way to not change when pulled from storage would be to start engine and bring to full operating temp frequently (couple times a month at least) while in storage.

The cost of oil & filter is so cheap for the $$$ I have in the car and the insane cost to repair, I have no qualms about what some might call "waste".

Like always, it boils down to your choice & priorities.

    Have fun!

    :-)

I have a question about storing it with fuel in the tank. Best with low fuel, half tank, full tank??? I know fuel stabilizer is needed, but didn't know if there was a proper amount of fuel to keep in the tank.

I believe a full tank is better. Partial or low fuel can lead to condensation and water in the fuel.

Unfortunately, all the fuel in my area has at least a bit of ethanol in it.
