    41k Mile 03 Marauder Hits BringATrailer

    I'm posting this here because it's a bit more significant than finding another garage kept example on craigslist

    This is the first Marauder that has ever hit BringATrailer, it's going to be a good indicator of what a clean car is worth to a wide market place that is used to looking at endless 911's and exotics. If this car sells for a strong price, it'll set a good resale benchmark for others to go off of when selling similar examples. From what I have seen on BaT, when one example of a nice car sells for a surprisingly strong price, more examples start trickling out to gamble on that same success which causes an eventual market flood and resale uptick (should they continue to trade hands for strong prices.) This is what happened with the Porsche 928 and BMW E39 M5 in recent years.

    I also have a feeling the owner is on this site (since he mentions it by name) but off hand I don't know who it is.

    https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...ry-marauder-6/

    For all the old time members who have sworn for the past decade and a half that these cars are going to go up in value and be sought after someday (versus trading for P71 prices in P71 condition as most are today), cross your fingers that this auction will prove you right and pave the way for a resurgence of interest in these cars.

    4 previous owners and it has lived where roads are salted, as shown in Carfax and in pictures of rust on underside I do not expect to set a benchmark.

    Considering how crappy most of these cars are in this day and age, this car is absolutely the top 10% condition wise. It's not as factory fresh as the few sub 100 mile examples out there that aren't selling, but its far nicer than what you'll find on the real world on the streets of philly for 4500 bucks.

    If only Mercury were selling new cars for $100K-$150K the price of the used ones would be driven up.

    Since I had the accessory belt out I decided to buy a new one last week from local ford dealer. I called to see if it was is stock. I say i need an accessory/serpentine belt for an 03 Marauder. The arts tech says "'what?" I repeat,"03 marauder". He says "A Miata?" I said "No a Mercury Marauder" He says "We don't sell Mazda parts." I told him to ask his boss. I am not kidding.

    They will be collectibles as anything else, definitely a bit more than an average American sedan. Hell even Pintos are collectible, especially wagons. I’m sure nobody saw that coming. But the high dollar figures are going to be mostly due to inflation. The Marauders were a special edition and history shows all special editions rake in the most money. But now take a look at the low percentage of interested parties for this car versus let’s say an ‘02 Trans Am WS6. According to KBB it is worth 26% more and twice as many sold compared to the Marauder.

    Sunroof 03’s sold for $38,500 here at the local dealer. In today’s dollar that is $53,468.60..

    If I could still buy a 2020 Marauder with all the updated goodies that a Mercury would have(hopefully defeatable nannies) and a proper muscle engine(Voodoo) I'd pay that.

    A 1963 Marauder is a rare thing today, and the 427 cars are uber rare. That being said they don't bring as much today as you might think. My theory on that is;
    they're rare because nobody wanted them back then, and that hasn't changed much. If you wanted a hot 1963 car you got a Galaxie, both then and now.

    Move onto the 2003-4 Marauder and not a lot of people wanted those either. But the big difference I see is that you couldn't and can't go get a Crown Vic instead. If you want this performance (I use the term loosely) in this body car you HAVE to get a Marauder and I think that will give it an edge over my 406 Marauder S-55 in the future. They will certainly be worth more than a Crown Vic. Not sure my 1963 is worth more than a comparable Galaxie.

    The problem is they made 11052 and there’s only 1/3 of that left. It has to be in the 3-4000 #’s of MM left in the wild. Look at the 94-96 Impala SS. It still can sell for 20-25k If it’s near brand new mint and low mileage.
