Should we be ticked at Gale Banks?

On his latest YouTube video, Gale Banks introduces his new Cadillac CT6 Blackwing and literally displays his Marauder and then kisses his long-standing Marauder goodbye in the video while saying the new car will kick the Marauders "booty"? I'm wondering if I need to gather our posse and ride down on that fool! (taking breaths...ok, I'm a Christian man again...lol!) While I do celebrate him for maintaining his Trilogy supercharged Marauder, the ole 'rauder deserves some respect, after all, it's the Cadillac's grand pap!

In case you didn't see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCQZPkquveM

I'm not happy with Gale, but this bodes well for the American performance sedan market...in a VERY limited-edition manner.

What do you think about Gale's behavior?

Could care less about his behavior. Simply said, Gale Banks is a genius and has done a lot for the performance industry. Lots of cars will kick the Marauder's butt, even our 2014 Lincoln MKZ AWD will give it a good run. We test drove the new Explorer ST last week and it will run off and leave the stock Marauder in the dust. Still trying to convince the wife that she needs one.

I think he’s just excited about his new toy. Now he has another car he will hardly drive. I was pretty surprised when he said “ I think it’s an M112 “ I figured a serious gear head like him would know exactly what size blower he has on one of his own cars. Guy’s a legend though and its pretty cool he has a trilogy marauder.

Ohhh, a narrow v V8. Horrible design. Obviously Gale hasn’t spent any time around the existing Audi narrow v V8’s. He seems to love this design but he obviously doesn’t know the issues Audi has had with it. So much heat in the heart of the engine. Insufficient intercooling due to the packaging restrictions, creating Eaton like performance loss. Oil coking in the turbo feed and return lines from just the heat developed that then take out the turbo bearings.

It does make sense for fitting a turbo engine in a small engine bay to reverse the flow but it’s just proven to be a maintenance and reliability nightmare. Add to that all the other problems we’ve seen come from direct injection engines. What a combination. Of course he probably won’t ever drive his car.

Personally I don’t think I’d be bragging too much about a twin turbo V8 making 5-550 at the crank. I surely hope they left a LOT on the table.

Im sure they did. The Audi’s make over 140hp and over 200 ft lbs over stock power with just software on a 93 octane file. That’s 600 hp and 700 ft lbs. Impressive for sure. That said they do heat soak pretty bad especially in the summer heat.

I don’t know about being pathetic as it’s only a 4.2 with a warranty but being a flagship and that far behind Ford and Dodge in power numbers is okay, pathetic.

Remember in his business he has to sell parts that are conservative to a degree so that the engines they’re bolted to lives or his business won’t. So he’s probably a conservative guy to start thus explaining his opinions.

I was surprised nobody commented that if you take the price in 2003 and adjust for inflation that Caddy is almost twice the cost of the Marauder. At that price it better be better.

    Very good point.
I know I risk being told I have no love for the marauder for the 2nd time this week, but I’m gonna say it anyway. It never would have been the answer to the marauder. I’m sure it’s more car than the marauder ever was, even if it was built in 2004. Although it would have been in the class with the Audi S8, Mercedes CLS AMG and BMW Alpina or Dinan.

My 13 MKS EcoBoost weighs several hundred pounds more than the MM and bone stock ran just as fast as my MM did the last time I raced it. I miss the healthy V8 exhaust but love how much more of a sleeper my MKS is over the MM. The new Explorer ST runs 13.9 ish bone stock and with just a tune 12.0-12.2.
