Oil burning smell from driver's side

Since the car is 16 years old, I'm assuming that a little burning of oil is typical, but does the Marauder eat gaskets like other Fords do?

X2 oil filter gasket, and no, they don't. Fords are fine with gaskets. Try a GM 3.1 V6 , Subaru boxer, or Cadillac Northstar! There's your "gasket" cars!

My old 2004 Lincoln LS ate valve cover gaskets almost as often as it ate coils.

Rear crank seals on fords are notorious too. Usually the crank is so soft where the seal rides it erodes a groove in the crank and then leaks.

That was a Jaguar based engine though

oil filter housing gasket is a common failure from age at this point, I did the one on my black car a couple years ago

Not that bad of a job, takes about an hour. Lots of liquid to handle. main odd tool is a 12mm? "crow's foot" I seem to remember, (which is a truncated open end wrench. Just the wrench part and square hole, handle is cut off/not there.)
