    Vibration Dampening

making progress on this 66 XL conv, the previous folks put a cam in it, no known specs. I do not like it!! I like smooth.

I know some marine engines have external braces with vibration dampening elements. Has anyone seen a car with such?? Details??

My XL has new large harmonic balancer, new motor mounts. Runs good.

i just may get pissed and put a stock cam in it. Any recommendations??

I would think the aftermarket cam has markings that indicate who made it and at least a part number. See what you can Google on that then see what the stock cams durations are. Then you will be in a better position to decide on what avenue you what to take as far as drivability.

You generally make less vacuum with an aftermarket cam. (My car went from 21 to an average of only 12 at idle)This probably has something to do with the stalling you were having and just a matter of retuning. It may help balance out your vibrations and stop the stalling all in one.
