I’m leaning towards there are other remotes programmed, whether you have them or not. Or it is possible the seller sent you later model remotes, when I look at the ddm with Forscan or IDS, I can tell how many remotes are programmed, I know of no was to see what else is programmed in or how to remove other remotes without that tool.

I had a Harley super duty I bought new in ‘04, the truck came with 2 keys and remotes, I always buy extras so I always have 2 even if I lose one. I bought the keys and remotes online and was going to have our locksmith service program it all when he was at the shop next time. Turns out he couldn’t, I took the truck to another dealer, they told me I had 4 remotes and 7 keys programmed already. The selling dealer did this for some reason, probably the same reason they are out of business today......stealing customer cars.

Anyhow, what I’m saying is “ anything is possible “, contact the seller on eBay, tell him they won’t program up. Maybe these is a different procedure for your model year. Like doors all closed or the parking brake on etc.

Did you test the battery in the remote to see if it was actually good? Anything less than 3 volts can be a problem.

im afraid i don’t know how to “test the battery” in the new FOBs. I DID look inside 2 of the 4 FOBs to make sure a battery was present.

my eBay message to seller resulted in him just sending me a link to the proceedure to program. Which was the exact steps I tried a dozen+ times yesterday. I’ve put the car away. I’ll pull it out and try to program again on a “fresh day” sometime this week. If the results are still a failure, I’m gonna demand return/ refund.

I know I'm a bit late to the party but I ran into the same problem as you.Bought 4 different remotes from several vendors & could get none of them to program. My buddy came by with his forscan tool & it only had 2 remotes programmed which I never got when I purchased the car.He removed them from vehicle history & still could not get any of them to work. Received a genuine Ford remote today from CarandTruckRemotes.com part #FRD-3W7Z-15K601-AA & it programmed on the first attempt.I guess those cheap chinese ones are not compatible.

Sounds familiar. My previous Marauder only came with one key, remote fob and valet key. Ordered a Mercury key blank and remote (package deal $20) off of eBay. Key cut and programmed correctly, remote was useless. $55 for a new remote and another $55 through the dealer to program everything and cut the key.

I guess I'll chime in since I started this...

I ended up ordering NOS from my local Dealer 2 FOBs for $90. And I got a REFUND ($25) from the ebay seller...who said I could just "throw the ones they sent me away"...

You get what you pay for...

I think I did a google search & came up with the place I bought from. Was only $17.94 shipped to my door which was a bargain in my eyes.

This is the key fob you need:

    3W73-15K601-AA
    FCC ID: CWTWB1U343
    Can: 1788a-FWB1U343

    Takes a CR2032 Battery

If the FCC / CAN IDs don't match, it won't work.

Programming key fobs from the 2004 Marauder Owners Manual:

Place the key in the ignition and
turn from 2 (LOCK) to 3 (OFF) and
cycle between 3 (OFF) and 4 (ON)
four times in rapid succession within
    3 seconds.
    After doors lock/unlock,
press any control on all transmitters
(up to four). When completed, turn
    the ignition to 3 (OFF).

    All transmitters must be
    programmed at the same time.

When completed, turn the ignition to the 3 (OFF) position and wait at
least 20 seconds in order to use the recently programmed
    transmitter(s).

All transmitters must be programmed during the same programming
cycle. A transmitter that is not programmed within the same
programming cycle will be erased and will no longer operate your
vehicle’s locks. If this occurs, you will have to reprogram all the
transmitters again, as you cannot just “add” a transmitter.
