    Crankshaft Fitment

Hey, I just bought a Crankshaft and Bearings Kit from Advance. Crankshaft is hard to turn with just tighten down barely(not torqued). The number on crank(F65E 6303bb) which is different from the CS05A That came out of car. What is the problem? The computer at Advance gave me option to select for aluminum block or iron block. I selected aluminum. Anyways, is Crank F65E 6303bb compatible with Aluminator?

Sounds like you have a bearing clearance problem.

Without seeing it couldn't tell you.You need to measure crankshaft journal & check the bearing clearance you shouldn't just be putting things together without checking.

Mic the crank, see if it is wrong, the bearings are wrong or maybe you can get bearings that fit correctly.

As the crank is refurbished, they remove a bit of bearing surface.. I would assume that the crank was Turned removing some of the surface area and then it should’ve came with the correct set thickness bearings to make it work. So if you have a brand new crank that’s never been turned in no issues it’s .000 and use a .002 bearing to allow no drag or less drag.

The crank should not be turned until the caps are torqued to spec. The bearings are not truly round until under torque. Also, you did use assembly lube right? And you used PlastiGauge to verify clearance (before final assembly with lube)?

All of the above. Never just throw anything that rotates into a block.

You should never assume that the parts store is right. I have gotten incorrect bearings in boxes that are marked correct. The #'s you posted are casting #'s not necessarily the actual part#. Most Romeo & Windsor parts do not interchange. The casting # on the F6 crank is from 1996 so that would be a Romeo crank.I'm not positive but I think Aluminators all came out of the Windsor plant... Ford has put the Aluminator name on lots of different engines. The main bearing clearance should be about .002 & with the caps torqued to spec you should be able to rotate the crank easily by hand. You may want to get with an engine builder to help you otherwise you will risk making junk out of everything costing you more than you saved trying to do this by yourself.
