    6x9s in rear decklid?

Can I get 6x9s in the rear decklid without chopping the crap out of it? Or just stick with the 6x8s?

I put 6x9s in my deck. Just opened holes up with a nibbler. 6x9 sound is a billion miles better than 6x8 and worth the extra work - IMHO.

After that, the sub upgrade made biggest difference.

I did it too and now I am ashamed of myself. Didn't sound better either. I should of concentrated on the front door speakers instead.

When I used to do pro audio back in the day we never used 6x9s or any odd shaped speaker other than the solo baric subs from kicker.

Any decent 6.5" component set set will blow away the best 6x9s out there.
And rear fill speakers arent even necessary. Hence the name rear FILL.

I have a set of 6.5 component JBLs in the front doors with a 400 watt amp. They are 100x better than stock.

Front door speakers are important but IMHO as accentuating sound blended in with the rear deck audio.

Proper rear deck audio mixed with good front door audio blended with balance & fade will immerse you in the music giving a great listening experience.

The acoustics of rear deck deflecting off rear window forward which hits windshield back to you = a mix of sound from rear, sound from front and add door sound = bliss!

JL Audio, one of the less expensive series. My factory head unit is crap and needs an update.

I recently had a Sony XAV-AX5000 head unit installed. I had replaced the rear deck speakers with kicker 6x8s and took the stock sub out and put in a Kicker 12 500w powered sub. The front doors are still factory. It sounds great but it seems that the sound-stage has moved rearward. I am thinking that the factory fronts have some kind of bypass? or something that doesn't let them get the wattage of the rears. I was thinking of moving the 6x8s to the front and putting a set of Kicker 6x9s in the rear deck.
