The newer version of that engine in a few years will make an additional 150 hp and get better fuel economy.

I'm a dyed-in-the-(blue) wool FORD guy....but I never understood FORD's penchant for putting complex, small CID, higher revving, overhead cam engines into their trucks.
IMHO, the 4.6 and 5.4L V8s were a waste of money and didn't do much.... unless you put a blower on them. Changing the '2 piece' spark plugs was fun too!
The Coyote 5.0 is a nice engine, but I don't need 4 cams and a lot of other complex stuff in my pick-up.
If I'm not buying the $10,000 option Diesel engine in a truck, ... then I want a simple, big cube, pushrod V8 with stump pulling low rpm TORQUE.
They obviously wised up with the 7.3L Godzilla engine!
It'll be fun to see what engine shops will be able to do with this beast.
