I’ve come a long way with my remote start system! Last issue! (Theft light)

Right, after a ton of research and trials, got the right fob, works great, everything works except the remote start function. Well obviously, I didn’t program it. So I get a second key, get it cut and get it programmed, and then I program the remote start. The final step of programming is “hit the remote start button, vehicle should start”
well it didn’t start, I just heard a relay click and that was it. If I try to use it normally, the theft light flashes a lot and the engine doesn’t crank at all. If I do the program procedure again, get out of my car, lock the doors, then hit the remote start button, the motor cranks for about 5 seconds but doesn’t start. Theft light flashes crazy. Car starts runs and drives perfectly fine but remote start not so much.

I don’t know much about these systems, but before I waste hours and a few $ on parts, what makes you think my whole security system is obviously failing? As I described above, when using keys the car starts runs and drives perfectly fine with the security light operating as it should. Couldn’t be anything to do with the programming of the remote start?

Doesn't a "Chipped Key" need to be in close proximity of the steering column to satisfy PATS??
    No Marauder

Yes sir it absolutely does. Remember when I said “when I use my remote start the theft light flashes and goes crazy”? Weirdly enough (well it makes sense) if I stick a key in the ignition while that’s happening, it’ll stop flashing and start right up (with the key in the off position) because it now registers the remote start is not a thief. This is why I think i got issues programming the remote start.

Update again, this time it’s a conclusion.

For the remote start to work, there’s a metal ring that you place around the ignition switch. It’s a PATS bypass that turns on at the click of the key so the remote start functions. It plugs into the module to get the signal. The issue is, at that plug, the wires are all frayed, so I assume it’s not getting a connection, which is causing the PATS to not be bypassed, which is causing the theft light to flash. Thanks for reading.
