Go to Rock Auto. Motorcraft SP433 AGSF32WM $2.51 each. Stick with Motorcraft coils also. Rock Auto shows $53.79 each. Seems high to me. I would think a set of 8 should be about $200.
COPs have been getting 'pretty salty' the last few years.

I had the same issue a couple if years ago. After two trips to the dealer new water pump and thermostat it did it again. Turned out that I needed to clean the outside if the radiator. Just the dust and road grime kept enough air flow out that t overheated. Since I rinse the front side of the radiator regularly, no mor overheating problems.

Okay, so here's what happened. The dealership replaced the thermostat with a motocraft one and the overheating issue has stopped. Here is how they screwed me. When the service rep called me he told me that the overheating is fixed but now the car is "RUNNING ROUGH". Keep in my mind it wasn't running rough when I brought it in. I told them that the technician must have done something. Anyway this is there diagnostic:
PERFORMED PCM SELF TEST AND FOUND P0307 AND P0308. PERFORMED MISFIRE TEST AND FOUND CYLINDER#8 MISFIRING. PERFORMED RELATIVE COMPRESSION AND FOUND CYLINDER#8 DOWN 41%. PERFORMED MANUAL COMPRESSIONA AND FOUND CYLINDER#8 IS OPSI. RECOMMEND REPLACING LONG BLOCK ASSEMBLY DUE TO MILEAGE AND RETEST.
Who knows, maybe I do need another engine. But I would like to explore more affordable means first, like changing the coils or even the distributor.....any thoughts?

There is no distributor on these DOHC engines and replacing the COPs wont help if you have a low or '0' compression on #8 cylinder.
It is a mechanical problem in that cylinder.
Talk to the dealership's Service Manager because the "Its running rough now" wasn't there when you brought the vehicle in for the overheating problem.
Unfortunately....It is going to be next to impossible to get them to admit what they did to your Marauder.
They will give you the 'Bill Clinton'....Deny, deny, deny, deny.
Then they will give you the real 'Bill Clinton' by doing a complete long block install for $$$$$$$$$$$$

It does not need a longblock, which Ford no longer has, it needs the head pulled off and #8 valves redone. Dealerships do not repair, they replace..they want to charge you prolly $7-9000 to replace long block is my guess.

Using the RT1110 number gives a lower price.
