Vortech SC oil drain line connection to pan

    Hey Guys,
I am pretty much done installing the Voretch V7-JT supercharger on my 03 Marauder.
The SC is not self contained oil wise, so it needs a feed and a drain.
The kit for these connections called for punching a hole in the front of the pan, threading the hole, putting in a brass fitting, and then a flared tube with an aluminum nut to tighten down onto the brass fitting once it is in the pan. I rtv'd the brass fitting in the pan. This is all for the drain. The oil feed line is fine, no problems there.
I'm not happy with this drain line set up, and I'm now considering pulling the pan (lots of work! K-member behind tranny and tranny have to come out) and getting a bung welded in for the brass fitting.
what do you think? Is it worth it?
    Thanks
    -KK

Try a bulk head fitting in lieu of welding. What are your engine specs?

I welded a -10 fitting in the one I did. But the engine was already out.

I would just keep an eye on what you have already done. If it starts leaking then fix it with a welded fitting.

There shouldn't be any pressure on it so as long as it doesnt vibrate and break the seal I think you'll be fine.

Look forward to seeing how the JT does for you.

I agree with a bulkhead fitting. I am putting the same Vortech on my car but I put on a new Moroso oil pan that has a extra threaded hole for such things.
