Tires & Rims for a `64 Mercury Park Lane

    Hello All,
I was curious if anyone knows the correct or suggested tire sizes for a `64 Mercury POark Lane Convertible. A local tire shop told me he thinks they were either 205-75-R14 or 215-75-R14 .
Also does anyoine recommend or know where to find some nice chrome rims for the 14 inch tires...I`ve only seen spoked rims & was hoping for cragars possibly
    Thanks innadvance for any help

The 63s (64 same car) came with 7.50-14 tires on sedans and 8.00-14 on wagons. The high performance cars came with 7.10-15. That translates to a P225/70R-15 or P215/75R-15. I wouldn't go any smaller than one of those two. Personal experience

Thanks for the reply....So 15 " Rims are Ok as long as the tires aren`t too wide ? He had 225/55ZR-17 on the fronts & there is rubbing on sharp turns

If I recall correctly our 64 had 205/75r14's on the stock wheels. They have been removed and updated with staggered 18's.

Don't get me wrong, you can go a lot bigger than the 225/70-15. There's PLENTY of room in there. That's just the biggest stock equivalent tire.

Tried to PM you a minute ago and it wouldn't go. Here are answers to your questions.

You can see the evolution of my car here https://sites.google.com/a/wmich.edu...rs/3z68g516447

    Standard covers are here https://sites.google.com/a/wmich.edu...rauder-history

If you want aftermarket, pick your own. Factory wheels are 4.5" wide. There's room for much more.

If you want a factory look you can't beat the factory 15" spinners, and it's not too hard to make fakes. https://sites.google.com/a/wmich.edu...me/information
Get a good wide steel wheel with modern radial tires and the spinners, even if you go wider. It will look great, handle better, and get better gas mileage.

email me from the website and I'll send you my phone #

I was assuming neutral , but I guess that depends on the rim.
