    275 & 295 tires

    Hi everyone,

I'm looking at this setup to be mounted on a set of 2007 - 2009 Shelby GT500 wheels that are 18x9.5.

    https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...omCompare1=yes

Front is 275/35-18 and the rear is 295/40-18.

I'm currently running the stock Goodyear tires that came with the GT500 wheels. 255/45-18 and 285/40-18 and they clear just fine.

I think the rear will be just fine because the 285's clear with a little bit of room and I believe some run 295's on the stock 18x8 wheels.

I'm concerned about the 275 on the front. Anyone run this size on the front? I would go down to a 265/35-18.

    Thanks,
    Curt

Curt does your car have traction control? I would love to see what a 9.5" wide front wheel looks like on these car's. It has to stick out doesn't it? I don't think you will have any issues with the tire sizes listed but I would suggest the 265 up front I do know a lot of guys run as wide as a 255 on the front.....

Here you go. The tire is the original Goodyear 255/45-18 from the 2009 GT500.

Two more. The rears are the original Goodyear 285/40-18.

I found a really good deal on a set of 265/35-18 Falken RT615K+ tires for $160 each. So I'll be just fine on the width.

Keep in mind a 265/35R18 is only 25.3" tall. The original sizes you had on there were both about 27" tall. The 295/40R18 is 27.3" tall. A 265/40R18 is 26.3" tall. A 275/40R18 is 26.7" tall. If they make the tire in a 265/45R18 that is 27.4" tall. HTH

This is for Auto Cross only. I don't have traction control, so there should be no issues.

The smaller diameter tire is actually a bonus as it changes the final drive ratio. I'm able to run in the mid RPM ranges in second gear. With the OEM sized tires I run normally, I'm down in the lower RPM ranges in second gear.

Aren't we discussing the front tire size/height?

Sure, but I'm not concerned about the tire heights as I will only be using this setup when I run Auto Cross events. I know they will look weird because of the smaller tire size, but it's a race not a car show.

I didn't read your specs but from personal experience with my non-traction control 03 if the rear tire diameter is smaller than the front tire diameter the ABS gets very angry and you can't drive the car. I swapped the fronts & rears to burn up the fronts as I was getting new ones, big fail! Good luck with your project!

All four corners will be 265/35-18 with a diameter of 25.4". I ran the stock 2007-2009 Shelby GT500 Goodyear tires/wheels that had a diameter of 27" on all four corners without any ABS issues, so I assume I shouldn't I shouldn't have any issues with the Falken 265/35-18's.

I paid $160 each for the Falken Azenis RT615K+ in size 265/35-18. Other wider sizes were a lot more money and availability was bad. I have a Auto Cross on Sunday May 2nd, so I'll be interested to see how these do.

I had to replace the front tires on silver.
Running 255/45 Michelin pilot sport AS4. $470 for both out the door.
