    Engine Fan Stuck On

My mechanic wants to put a new engine fan on my Marauder because it’s stuck on! I’m not sure that’s the correct? I was thinking a sending unit maybe the problem? If I connect the fan it will run when the engine is cold! I’m not afraid to spend for the repair I want to make sure we’re replacing the right part!
    Anyone else have this problem?

    Engine Fan Stuck On

There is a bit of diagnosing with this Gary. The fan relay or controller could be stuck, as well as a bad coolant temp sensor, A/C switch, or even a faulty trans temp sensor, all of which communicate with the PCM to turn on the fan as far as I know. I’m pretty sure one or two more items also involved in the PCM’s algorithms but currently drawing a blank.

Mines been on high for probably four years now because lazy.. I’m pretty sure mine is the fact there is no more trans temp but I’m not motivated enough yet to add a resistor to trick it. Maybe next year.

Bob thanks for the info. My fan is stuck on high also. So I think the fan isn’t the problem.

The most common issue with a high fan stock on its a faulty temperature sensor, not the one for the gauge and it will also throw a MIL code, any codes?, well unless the sensor thinks it's within the parameter limits and makes the PCM to try to cool down the engine.
Another very common issue is a faulty fan module, I would start by replacing this one.

After finding a U tube video that was 34 minutes long . Where the tech had a fan stuck on high he diagnosed it as the fan motor which has a control module that is the culprit . But you have to buy the whole assembly. I will post later, I think I’m on the right path to fix this problem.

Just an FYI, Not sure If I dreamed about it but I think I separated the module from the fan assembly once, or maybe I replaced the whole assembly.... One thing for sure I got mi replacement from the junk yard OE.
you can get one from a grand marquis or crown vic they are the very same unit.

I’m using the stock controller for a no where near stock radiator, fan, and shroud assembly. So yes, easily removable.

Do not... I repeat DO NOT get an aftermarket fan assembly or controller. They have a habit of making "thermal" events.
