    Starter recommendation?

Starter is starting to give up the ghost now and I am looking to get something stronger, more powerful, and better made than ford re-man if possible. Preferably made in the USA. Are there any good aftermarket starters that you guys recommend? I have seen something like this online (link below) but would that be overkill for a stock engine?

    Starter recommendation?

I’ve had that one for at least 6-7 years?? Maybe longer? I bought it long enough ago that it was branded as Jegs. They are made here near Chicago. Awesome starter, especially with headers. Unique, more refined sound. I honestly don’t even remember what the OE starter sounds like anymore LOL

Forgot to ask earlier, but is a wiring upgrade needed for the powermaster starter or any upgraded starter for that matter?

Nope. But if you see any green on the larger terminal then I guarantee it’s solid green corrosion several inches up into the wiring insulation. I bought the same 4:1 starter for my beater F150 5.4 except non billet and it still turned over slow. Turned out 6-8” of wiring was solid green and it looked great before I cut it open..

But I’d highly recommend a heat blanket to protect your investment, especially f you have headers. I just use a cheap DEI brand found in stock in most Advance Autos “race” sections LOL Sucks to cover up the little gem but then again mine still looks like it did on the day of install.

Is there anything unique about the Marauder starter, or is the same as a CV, GM starter?

I like the Velcro on that starter shield. I had one from thermo tech that used those stainless “zip ties” which were a pain in the ass to deal with.
Does the heat mess up the Velcro at all?

Would think the Velcro would melt if it got to close to the manifold.

I had a DEI heat shield blanket on my Marauder's starter along with Kooks headers.
Never had a problem with the Velcro melting.
