    Finally I have one...

Well, many of you will make fun of this car but I have always wanted a Marauder and I was finally able to afford one. I've been a lurker here for quite some time. I built (by myself) my last CVPI with a TR3650 5-speed swap, 4.10's and a Marty Tune along with some other goodies. I've owned a few P71's, and I'm no stranger to the platform. Knowing the platform well and knowing I can fix just about anything that breaks (with some guidance) made me feel more comfortable about buying this car. I *am* completely new to the DOHC motor and I will be coming here for advice on that, I'm sure.

This Marauder was built in June 2002 and has 306,000 miles on it. Yes, 306,000. I'm not sure how I go about "comparing" it to other Marauder's as far as how it's optioned - maybe someone can help me out with that.

Timing set, tensioners, etc. have recently been done. It's by far the quietest and nicest running 4.6 I've owned. Much of the car's history is unknown to me but it appears it's owners have taken VERY good care of it. It is from the west coast and I paid to have it transported back east, so it's solid and a good start for me. The car will need air suspension work, a good cut and buff (hopefully that gets me by for now) and minor stuff here and there. Anyway, glad to finally own this car. I plan to treat it well and only drive it on nice days in the summer. It's in my garage now and I'll be going over it top to bottom between now and next spring.

First of all, congrats! Secondly, I think 300k miles is good news for the rest of us; I have 178k on mine, so it's possible I can get another 120k out of it? AWESOME! Since it was built in June 2002 it's a 300A model, which means you get a in-dash clock (as pictured) and a full size spare. Not sure of all little differences between the 300A and 300B...there's a thread on this site somewhere that points all this out. You should get a certificate of authenticity to find out the production number...it's probably one of the first 1,000 made I would guess.

    Once again, congrats!

Another June 02 build like mine. We’ve seen a couple here surpass 300,000 and still be in great shape. These cars could care less about mileage as long as they’re taken care of. Congrats!

Congratulations! Very early cars like yours only had 2 options, the trunk mounted CD player and trunk organizer.

Thanks everyone! I bought the car right so I don't have many concerns about the mileage. I agree that with proper maintenance and replacement of key items, mileage is not really a concern for Panther platform cars. I've always believed this, even when buying/selling Crown Vics. I'm all new to the 4V but it's probably the quietest running 4.6 I've ever heard and with the new timing set, all I have to worry about are the internals and the #8 valve burning. The "cooling mod" is on my list, although the fact that this motor made it 306,000 miles without it speaks loudly.

When the trans goes, I'll 5-speed swap it (sorry purists - but a 300,000+ mile car is the perfect one to 5-speed swap).

How would I go about getting a "certificate of authenticity" like this? I would be very curious to know more about the build and rarity of the car!

Aw man...doesn't look like it's working! I think I might just pay for a Marti report.
