    Opinions on these axle shafts

    Replace or send it?

One of these is a Yukon replacement, the other is a Ford part but not original to the car. Bearings look good. Didn’t leak or make any noise.

I am replacing bearings and seals. Should I re-use these shafts? Rather not pay for new ones if I don’t have to.

It might work for a while but you will end up doing the job again.

    Here’s some good info

    https://bcabearings.com/techtips/axl...-installation/

Edit: they make one for our cars:

also fwiw these are made by NTN which I can vouch for as quality bearings..I sold industrial ball bearings for motion industries back in the day! still have nightmares about ball bearings every now and then…..

How can their repair bearing for the Marauder not be applicable to the Crown Vic? That number says it’s for the 03-04 Marauder but only up to the 91 Crown Vic/Marquis.

Thank you. I’ve heard the repair bearing isn’t the best solution, but I’ll consider it.

I'd toss em. Even new Dorman axles are more trustworthy than those raggy sticks. Relocation kits are for taxicabs in my opinion. The hardened layer is only ~1mm or less on most steel parts once that's gone forget it. So you would be moving inboard the wear layer first one didn't hold up the inner one will be prone to more flexing and bearing side loading if anything...

There are two type or repair bearings. One that moves the seal in and uses a sealed bearing and one that move the seal out and uses a roller bearing that's still lubed by gear oil. Use the later if you go this route. Personally I'd replace the shafts.
You "feel" the difference because you want to "feel" the difference. Since you just spent money on the upgrade you "have" to feel the difference

I'm looking to eliminate the double pump process I have to follow right now to get the pedal hard

If you still have 28-sline you must get 04 axleshafts and even those aren't a guarantee.

I’ve ran Ford Racing axles (31 spline) for over 8-9 years now at 600 RWHP street tune. I removed them to replace the Ford Racing diff I exploded last spring and they were absolutely mint still. The 7 year old Yukon gear set took a BEATING and survived with one itsy bitsy nick all the way to the outside of one tooth. I re used the gear set and picked up Yukon’s dura grip diff and spent the entire summer punishing it. I love Yukon, nothing but great luck, and they have had a great name in the off road community for a long time. That diff is so tight it takes effort to not hear some kind of light tire squeal on tight right turns.

I only have the Ford Racing axles because my wife bought them at the same time as the diff years ago. If they were to go I’d more than likely go Yukon there as well.

I've installed 2 sets of used oem 31-spline axles. They seem to be bulletproof!
