    Wink Vortech Powered Sleeper

To Vortech or not to Vortech ??

So many are on the Facebook pages and more but i wanted to put in the time i did to my DTR on the forums also. I love the format and getting tired of the nonsense with Facebook now days.

So i had this supercharger on the cobra i own for some time and had a lot of good times with the head unit but i am going to a much larger supercharger than the vortech V7- JT .

This head unit was a prototype from Vortech labs engineers from 2001.

For this build i wanted to go with OEM "quality" and performance without too much fanfare or attention grabbing and since this is a daily driver , i wasn't wanting to deal with any loud exhausts or noise if i could help it.

This meant keeping stock exhaust and all .... yes even the CATS !!

These are the only mods below :

    *Ford racing MU52 52lb injectors .
    *ADTR Rear control arms.
    *Walbro 450 fuel pump
*Tuning myself via QH and Decipha strategy breakout on Tunerpro.
    *Innovate ECB1 Gauge , Wide-band + Vac/boost + Ethanol content sensor.
    *E85 Corn only baby!
*My own custom FPDM for 40 amps

I applied a lot of phases to installation of this kit . It was quite the journey and the best part was ADTR installation kit to go with my race blower .

I'd already put over 100k miles on the supercharger so i sent it out to vortech labs for a fresh rebuild and update , all new bearings and the works. I purchased a 3.33' pulley and its going through an ADTR race kit provided inter-cooler which does a phenomenal job with cooling the air charge. Currently seeing a bit of belt slip on this combo but ill be making some changes to the belt length . Currently seeing around 7lbs boost at 6k rpm . i think it should get a bit more than that with the belt issue resolved.

Check out the video of the install and the initial phases of tuning .Don't forget to shoot a sub if you haven't !

Nice work. You'll really like that blower once you can spin it faster and wake it up!
You "feel" the difference because you want to "feel" the difference. Since you just spent money on the upgrade you "have" to feel the difference

I'm looking to eliminate the double pump process I have to follow right now to get the pedal hard

Ran into some FDPM problems. I using the stock FDPM, a booster from ADTR and an Aeromotive fuel pump from ADTR...
Did you have any problems getting the fuel pump to work?

Looking at the video he posted it appears he got the install done in short order, didn't ask a single question, turned the key, and viola its alive!

All boils down to ABILITY I guess......

Thanks guys ! So this is a Vortech V7-JT its right below the YSI . i'm not spinning her very very fast but she is awake at all times (minus the slipping belt due to smaller pulley ) .

For the FPDM i built my own custom FPDM out of the stock unit . rated it for 40amps which should never be seen honestly, but its good to deliver better fuel . It did extend the range of the stock pump by a small margin . i will do a write up on here on this once i can get the pictures transferred over .

the walbro 450 was straight forward. i installed in the stock hat and it will provide enriched boost fuel down to the last gallon until the tank is dry . does very very well honestly.

I compensate for the fuel pumps behavior in my tune by tuning the table and gathering data logs for it.
