Am thinking about getting a scan tool and want to stay under $100. What do you folks have/recommend?

I tell ya, I'm a generally old school guy and always preferred a traditional style device I could hold in my hands when it comes to OBD readers. However, I bought one of these:
Amazon.com: Veepeak Mini WiFi OBD II Scanner for iOS and Android, Car Check Engine Light Diagnostic Code Reader Scan Tool Supports Torque Pro, OBD Fusion, Car Scanner App : Automotive
a couple years ago and I pair it with an app on my iPhone called "Auto Doctor". I pay around 20 bucks a year subscription for that and it gives me all sorts of access to vehicle data, checks and clears codes, displays freeze frame data, real-time sensor data, etc...all the stuff most guys will ever need to diagnose and repair at home and then some.
I was considering getting my hands on a cheap iPad or tablet to use just in the garage with this device and app, it's that good. For now, it works fine with my phone. It has worked perfectly on all my domestic vehicles (16 Suburban, 08 CVPI, 03 Marauder) and also with my wife's 2015 Volvo which I know some scanners have a fit when you try to connect to European vehicles. Highly recommend.

If you have a tuner, use it. Works really well on all most every car I've hooked it to.
It was an honor to have
my ASS kicked by you!
Rest In Peace!
