    Aftermarket cam questions.

Why are cams a bad idea? I read so many people say don't waste the money, you gain nothing, buy a supercharger, ect. But most of these threads are almost 10 years old. Is the feeling still the same? Why? I haven't really seen before and after dyno info.

I'm asking because I'm getting the valve seat fixed in #8. Which means getting the heads a good freshen up. Since the heads are off, I figured, time to throw parts at it. I'm looking at the MHS Stage one cams, rockers and springs, timing kit, Stainless Works long tubes and a tune. Is there a reason why cams should be left out?

Replacing cams on the Modular DOHC is a PITA.

If you already have the heads off, then 'half the battle is won'.

Now all you have to do is drop $1,200+ on four new camshafts.

Like everything else try more like $1600+ hell the Crowers I put in my stroker are now $2000 luckily I scored a used set from a buddy that took them out of his Cobra for $200.If I hadn't gotten those from my friend stock cams would've gone back in.

It’s really just about the HP per dollar. It’s not that they are a bad choice, just costly with minimal gains.

I’ve got a set of Crower stage 2 blower cams left over with only around 9,000 miles (actually probably much less) I’d let go for $1,200.

I just wanted the idle, I already had plenty of power.
