    New rear tires - 275/45/18

After 13 years of running 285/50/18s out back, I finally went down a few sizes.

The only 285s I could find in 2023 were Continental CrossContact UHP, which I'd previously run from 2009-2015(?) and liked just fine other than the gaudy sidewall. Once I swapped to the great looking Nitto NT404 out back, I couldn't go back to the Contis and I knew I had to change sizes. These are Y-rated (186mph) Pirelli PZero 275/45/18s. Total stagger is now only 0.4" between front and back.

    Apologies for the huge pictures.

Didn't need 'em with the 285s, and the 275s are 10mm narrower.

I'll be curious what your tire life is, these tires came stock on the S550 mustangs with the performance pack and most people got between 8-12,000 miles out of a set. I replaced mine around 10k.

This is assuming you got the P zero summer tires, not the P zero nero all seasons

a_d_a_m_ No apologizes necessary, that a$$ looks good! Thought I was buying Continentals way back in 2010, Conrads didn't tell me that they installed Pirellis instead, never liked them, too hard. Squealed instead of bit down and gripped the road. I just noticed those Pirellis are back on the good car, time for one hell of a burnout and replace them.

sailsmen I had the 285's, then upgraded to the 295 Nittos, No rub either.

offroadkarter - disclaimer- your results will vary with your driving and amount of burnouts!

I run a Falken Azenis RT660 in size 295/40 on the rear and 275/35 on the front when I auto-cross my Marauder. I don't have any rubbing, however, I run a 2007/2009 GT500 wheel which is 9.5 wide. They stick out a little more than the stock Marauder wheel, so that's probably why they don't rub.

I've put 40k on the car in 11 years and drive it less and less every year. Hell, last year, I think I only did 800 miles.
In other words, it's likely that the tires will be dry-rotted before they are bald.

Think you've got me beat. My car didn't even come off the lift for 2020 or 2021
