Oil pump with cobra pick tube or stock pick up tube
Since I will have to be doing a timing job and motor mounts soon, I want to see if I can upgrade the oiling system to hopefully prolong the life of the engine since I do a lot of short drives and I want the maximum amount of oil getting to the heads ASAP on start-up. Was thinking about getting the m-6600-d46 oil pump combo with the cobra pick up tube (15/16 inch tube) and pairing it with the moroso 20555 oil pan as well as using 0w-30 engine oil to boost the amount of oil getting up to the heads. It seems like the pick up tube has more of the screen area left open and will suck up more oil faster? Not looking into getting billet gears since I never rev the car hard. Was also looking into possibly getting the Ford gt (supercar) roller followers to increase oil pressure as well. What are your guys' thoughts on such a set up? And apparently the cobra tube would need a spacer to attach to the block?
I was thinking that the larger pick-up tube would possibly suck the oil pan dry IF driven moderately hard hence the upgrade to a moroso pan.
Happy Thanksgiving!
