2004 Mercury Marauder, Executor of Uncles Estate

Good day everyone. I am the executor of my uncles estate and he has a 2004 Mercury Marauder DRT, Charcoal interior, Power Heated Seats and moon roof. He also put in a cold intake. The car is in beautiful condition. Low mileage and has been garage kept with a heated garage. He had the car appraised in 2017 for $16,500. He passed away last year and we just had the car appraised again and they appraised the car still at $16,500. From What I have been reading his car is 1 of 380ish cars. So I am just wondering at how accurate that appraisal is. We have someone offering $18k for the car but I feel as if that might be a little low. Any insight would be helpful.

What's the mileage? There were a total of 997 (IIRC) DTRs made, some have charcoal interior, some have light flint, some have a moon roof. $18k seems to be a reasonable offer, IMO, depending on mileage...

Worth more than appraisal for sure..prolly in the $23-$26k range. The appraisal is low imo.

You will never get an appraisal that is accurate. These cars have never had a price point since new. Do your own research and pick a price that you can live with. Keep in mind, you are ultimately selling to a very small crowd at WAY over bank value so it takes the right buyer.

I wonder if I knew him? I live in Wheaton.

He lived in Elk Grove. He also owned a 1989 Ford Mustang, had a gun staff with tons of guns, a huge member of NRA. Last name was Sarvas.

Actually there were 980 made in DTR. There were 997 in Silver Birch.

Thanks for the clarification...wasn't sure of the DTR number (which is why I put 'IIRC'). In addition to the 997 SBs made in '04, there were 417 SBs made in '03 (I have one, #112) so 1,414 SBs in total.

With only 34k on the clock, OP's DTR is definitely worth more than the appraisal and offer he received...I wouldn't settle for less than $22K.

We love these cars far more than the market does, and most folks with an extra $20,000 for a "sports car" or Sunday driver... arn't thinking Marauder. If you can find a solid Marauder loving person that will pay you cash over $20,000... You have to decide what the storage and non-drive costs vs reg and ins carrying costs are. Tough call. Would love to see pictures!

Question is seeing your from up North and he lived in Elk Grove Village is did he get any kind of rust? I just moved to Texas from Joliet and bought my 2003 brand new and unfortunately rarely seen the outside and still seemed to get some rust underneath so that does take some points off. I just purchased what I thought was a pretty good deal is a 2004 with trilogy supercharger and 61,000 miles for $22k. Your car if no rust and paint is still good should get $25k that’s only my opinion. The Marauder is still and will continue to be unique car that all ages still throw thumbs up at you when your out having fun cruising around!
