Steering Wheel Doesn't Lock While In Park

While installing the KVR Brake Package, I noticed it was possible to turn the steering wheel while vehicle was in Park and the ignition switch in the off position... Is this normal or not ?????

    Thanks,

Normal... They did away with the steering wheel lock when they came up with the PATS key.

Yeah, saved about a dollar on that sweet idea but PATS key or no, the crooks can now pull the tow truck up behind it and just fly away with it now. And after I developed the habit of turning the steering wheel when parking it.

Still, I back into parking spaces now and use the parking brake (a good habit as it keeps the cable from freezing up) and turn the wheel anyway. Perhaps the next tow-truck gang won't know about the missing lock.

I wonder... Can a locking column be used with our cruise/HVAC/stereo controllered air-bag steering wheel?

I am pretty sure I have the PATS key and my steering column locks. I can't recell if it will lock with the key in though.

Some transition years may have had both. Marauders only have PATS.
