OK, folks. I have committed myself to getting a SuperGas competition license from Frank Hawley's NHRA school sometime next year. When I was fortunate to have dinner with Maury (CRUZER) in Dallas last week when I was there attending a seminar, he suggested that I float the idea of having MM owners participate in a Frank Hawley course either at a MMV III, or in regional club sponsored events. When I talked to him, I hadn't communicated with Hawley about the particulars: i.e. numbers, locations, etc. I contacted the folks at Hawley's, and they said that they have a couple of programs that would likely be of interest to us as MM owners: The "Bring Your Own Car" program and their "Reaction Time Clinic". I won't go into detail here (since there's too much to go into), but these programs can be reviewed at
www.frankhawley.com.
What I have been told is that, since the "Bring Your Own Car" program and "Reaction Time Clinic" would not require Frank to provide cars, mechanics, etc. it would be more like a seminar activity, and obviously much less expensive. Obviously, if we do it at Gainesville or Pomona, we'd be at tracks that Frank is already at. On the other hand, if we want to build an MMV III around it (it's a two day program), it would have to be somewhere reasonably accessible by all who would want to participate. On the other hand again, he's willing to do regional clinics at Gainesville, Pomona and at regional tracks in the northeast (ATCO, maybe) and someplace in Washington or Idaho, so that the largest number of folks could participate. Obviously, it would be best if the regional clubs got together on these; then anyone across the country could participate, but the events themselves would be sponsored by regional groups.
My point of this post is to poll the membership and find out three things: 1) Is there interest in this kind of event; 2) Would you prefer a MMV III event be planned around it, or a Regional Event; and 3) If national, where, and if regional where? I know this is very general, but as a trial balloon, I need to focus on what the group might want to do and where, and then narrow it from there.
Let me add, that anyone who successfully completes these clinics, will receive their NHRA competition license sign-off by Frank. If we are going to do something like this, the planning has to start now, so please, let me know what your thoughts are.

Poll:
Would you be interested in an event that includes Frank Hawley's Drag Racing and Reaction Time Clinics?
Would you like it to be in conjunction with MMV III?
Would you like it to be sponsored regionally?
If national, where and when?
If regional, where and when?
