I would like it to be in conjunction with MV III.
I would like it to be sponsored regionally.

Although I voted no on the poll, I certianly think this is a great idea. The average member here can greatly benefit from such training. Without mentioning any names, I've seen r/t's in the .750's to the 1.000+ range at some of the events I have attended. I am fortunate enough to have a personal coach, and the time to spend at the local tracks when I'm on the road. Just like everything else one does, the name of the game is practice and training. A well run course, like the one offered by Frank Hawley and graciously suggested by jspradii, will do nothing except move the attendees beyond the first round, and save you money on the whole buy-back thing. Let the other guy have to fork over the buyback fee to keep racing. Even if you're just a casual racer (maybe only once or twice a year) this will enhance your racing experience. I talked with a few of my "hard-core" dragging buddies, and they recognize the name, and recommend his approach. BTW, those .750 -1.000 times are on a .5 bracket tree. If you plan on doing any "heads-up" racing, which often uses a pro-tree, plan on seeing closer to 1 and a half seconds. Sign up and do this, it will only help.

When in doubt, GAS IT! This will either fix the problem, or end the suspense.
Thanks Paul. My primary reason for suggesting this is that all of us could use not only personal RT counsel, but also have the opportunity to have our cars individually RT'd. For amateur drivers, this could really be important. For people wanting to compete professionally, it's a must. If we could do this in conjunction with MMV III or a couple of regional events, it would make us all better drivers (not just street racers), and LOWER the cost. I, for one, want to compete professionally, either in my car or super gas/comp or otherwise. This is a great opportunity for professional training at "group" rates. Like I said, we'll take this where the interest leads us. Thanks to everyone so far for their input! - Jim

Jim,
Any plans for an organized Frank Hawley school get-together? Since Gainesville is one of their regular locations, we could probably combine a Reinhart visit and possibly dyno day with the drag racing school trip.

Not as yet; I'm not receiving the numbers I was hoping for to tie it in to MMVIII, so it may be best to try and organize the few of us who are interested to do it in conjunction with a Dennis dyno visit in Gainesville. The guys on the west coast can arrange to take the training at Pomona. I'm going to wait and see what further responses I get through January, then we'll see what we can put together. Anyone else who may be interested should either post on this open thread or PM me and let me know of interest.

With Dennis on board, I can finally take my car to him to get some work done on it. Gainesville would be outstanding, and it's Frank Hawley's backyard. Let's see what other comments we can generate, and then make a decision in the next month or so.
