I do want to clarify one statement made in the article:
"Different vehicles use different types of transmission fluid, such as Dexron III or Mercon."
Actually Dexron III and Mercon ARE the same fluid...
For we Ford owners, it's more important to distinguish between Mercon and Mercon V, or just to confuse the issue further, between Mercon V and Mercon SP. These three fluids are NOT interchangeable, with the exception that Jerry recommends using Mercon V in all 4R70W transmissions, even the older ones where plain Mercon was originally spec'd.
