    Recommended Prefilter?

    Hi Jay,

I've been looking around the 'net for a water resistant prefilter (ala Outerwears or KN PreCharger) to fit my JLT intake assembly. Do you have the specific part number for the S&B filter in your kit? It seems that all the sites need a filter part number to determine which prefilter fits. That being said, is there a specific product you might recommend?

    Outerwearz is a good company.
    S&B part # is R40-09AAFPS
    Measurments are
    Filter top width 5 1/4 "
Filter height 9" not including the mounting flange.

If you get one, get me a part #.
    Thanks
    Jay

Thanks Jay. I ordered a water resistant Red prefilter over the phone with Outerwears. I'll report back once it arrives. BTW, when ordering, the S&B part number isn't helpful. They just need the dimensions. I noted that the S&B catalog doesn't list the filter base width (widest point before the mounting flange) and I wasn't about to unscrew it just to measure so I eyeballed it at 7.5". If that turns out to be too big, I'll have to try again.

    $21.55 + shipping

I was thinking that you might contact them and find out what it would cost to run a batch with your logo on them. I'd much rather have yours than theirs.

I called and they are supposed to fax me dealer info on Monday.

I need to buy 30 in the first order. If the price is right I can do it.
    I'll let you all know.
    Thanks

Make sure the logo goes length-wise so it can peek out from under my heat sheild.

I believe this is the one that came with my PHP intake kit. It's nice, and well worth the money.

I take it off when I race...another cheat of mine....

Hi, Jay... I'm in for one if you order them. I'm very happy with my JLT kit, and would like to add to it!

Dumb question: Is the JLT kit NOT meant to be used year-round? Should it be replaced with the stock airbox in rainy weather? I'm wondering now wet it would get in the engine compartment.

But this prefilter cover sounds like it is meant to allow the filter to be used year round. (?)

Thanks for clarifying. I just assumed the unit as is was safe to use all the time.

    Regards,

    Norm

You will not get enough water that high to cause a problem.
