    2003 Marauder concept at auction?

I was reading Old Cars Weekly for Feb. 3rd and there was a full page ad for the Atlantic City Collector Car Auction. I was surprised when they had a photo of the 2003 Marauder Concept Car Convertible, built at Ford "Skunkworks." I checked out the website, but there was not a listing for the Marauder, not one that I saw anyway. If I had access to a scanner I would post a picture of the page. The website address wouldn't work, so I just did a google search for Atlantic City Collector Car Auction. I was just wondering if anyone else saw this?

The original concept 'vertible Marauder was sold on ebay with the funds going to charity. The man who bought it was featured in a magazine article. Somewhere around here is a thread that goes into more detail. There are also a ton of pictures around here as well.

That particular car is not titlable and illegal on public streets. I wasn't sure why anyone would buy it other that the nostalgic value.

I haven't seen the article you speak of. If it is indeed up to date, perhaps the guy who scored it the first time is getting rid of it?

    Where'd it go?!

According to a good friend of mine, the concept car was bought by, and is on display at, Jerry's Leesburg Ford Lincoln Mercury on East Market Street in Leesburg, Virginia. He sent me pictures of the car sitting in the showroom when it was bought last summer.

Somebody in the Commonwealth want to check it out?

    From an old press release....

The Marauder Convertible builds on the popularity of the sedan, which is designed to deliver a 1960s muscle car experience with contemporary driving dynamics, comfort and safety. It is designed to be like no other vehicle:

Its supercharged 335-horsepower V-8 delivers more horsepower than any other full size convertible priced less than $85,000. It is a five-passenger convertible. All other convertibles on the market today only seat two or four passengers. Rear seat room is generous. At approximately 38 inches, the convertible's rear seat legroom is the same as Marauder sedan's. While true to its American muscle car heritage, it is thoroughly modern - with low emissions, cutting-edge safety and driving dynamics that balance comfort with control.

"The Marauder and the Marauder Convertible concept say a lot about the next generation of Mercury vehicles, which we're defining now," says Brian Kelley, president of Lincoln Mercury. "Both Marauders have heritage, performance and charisma. You'll see these same qualities in future Mercurys."

Question less rear legroom in convert

Rear seat room is generous. At approximately 38 inches, the convertible's rear seat legroom is the same as Marauder sedan's. Quote
Not according to what I read: at least an inch or more ;1 &1/2 " less rear leg room in the convert.

If Mercury had made that car, I'd be a Maruder owner instead of a TBird and Lincoln LS owner.

    Borgata Auction-2002 M/M Convert.

I make the AC Classic Car Auction every year as a registered bidder.
This year dates are Feb. 24-27.

I just rec'd a brochure from the show.

It's titled the "Best of Best" (Auction @ the Borgata).

There will be an auction held @ The Borgata Hotel & Casino on Thursday (Feb. 24) evening from 7:30 pm to ???.

In the Brochure is listed the 2002 M/M Convertible concept vehicle, w/ a photo & small article.
It states that the car cost Ford Motor Co. almost $300K to produce this hand built M/M.

I'll be there to see if it sells.

    Also, check out : www.acclassiccars.com
