    Spark Plugs?

At 54k, I don't think I really need new plugs, but what the heck, I feel like doing something nice for my MM. I'll probably put in a new set this weekend. I have the OEM thermostat, so I need plugs that work at the factory temperature range.
What plugs are some of you using with the factory stat?

WOW! 63 views and no responses! I guess most people are like me, unless they have changed their stat, they haven't changed their plugs yet.

No, I have not changed my program & have been running the stat/plugs for over 10k miles. Nice SOP. Spins tires from dead punch & @ 1-2 shift.

Ross, if your chip programmer didn't require a cooler 'stat and plugs, then why not just keep using the factory-recommended ones? The part number's in the owner's manual...

Well, since I am adding some new ones, I thought I'd see what else was available that others might be using, just for the heck of it. Especially since plugs are cheap compared to a lot of other things that we do to these cars!

I'm not sure what plugs you use... but on my 4.6L SOHC V8, I'm using AGSF-12FM1 (Motorcraft) plugs that look just like Denso Iridium spark plugs, but at $4/ea.

    Plugs

I'v got several sets of OEM low mile plugs you can have. The S/C car takes an oddball, gapped at .032. That's odd too, but I understand it helps with quicker flame travel, which must be good.

    Ross,
I have the same MM with a older Diablo chip also. Your plugs do need changing. Look up spark plugs on search - we have many comments and lots of discussion.
After lots of research and talking to factory tech's. I came to the conclusion
that a one step colder plug would improve performance by better combustion and less spark knock. The Denso Iridium 4mm extreme HP plugs NO. IT20.
These make a larger spark ball than any other plug. Set the gap at 50 with care. They use a stronger Iridium - different composition - than any other.
It takes 30 min. to change the stat. (to 180deg.) and plugs.
Use flat clamps to pinch off the hoses to the stat. then just changeout.
Be sure to put new one back in same way otherwise it will leak. You will loose 1 cup of fluid only. Repace and burp thru tap on cross pipe in front.
Your MM will be happier with less knock, more advance and power.
    You will notice the difference.
Call Dennis Reinhart as his firm has the plugs and stat. and he has great
advice and knowledge. Consider a 410 rear also.
