    HELP! Wheel stud issue?

After reading about one of our member's horrible wheel stud failure, I decided to pay extra attention to mine while doing my bi-monthly wheel PM.

Every six to eight weeks I pull all four wheels and clean the calipers, inspect the pads, and inspect the wheels/tires and finish off by detail cleaning and waxing of appropriate items mentioned.

I noticed a lock washer on my wheel studs. Only problem is, it appears that not all of the studs have this lock washer.

MY QUESTION HERE IS: SHOULD ALL OF THE WHEEL STUDS HAVE THIS LOCK WASHER?

Examine the photo below, and you will see what I am speaking of.

I also see that I too have fallen victim to inner front tire wear as well. These are the original front tires, and both have exactly the same inner wear after 28,000 miles.

I guess when I replace these fronts next year, I'll need a copy of the alignment specs you folks have spoke of for so long now.

My "SWAG" for the lock washer is to hold the rotor on the studs.

I too would like a copy of the alignment specs. I have pull to the left.

2 of those washers will do (it is for the assembly process only-it keeps the rotor on the hub). I have the specs for the alignment. Just ask and I'll have them for you.

Call 1-800-FORD-788 and press "1". Have the last 6 of your VIN handy. You will get the numbers for FREE. You'll pay $$$ for the certificate.

MM traded in 8/9/13 @ 128909 miles. It was fun for almost 8 years. I met airmercpun on 1/17/14. He was the new owner of my former ride. -Now gone.

Update: back in the game with a late build 03 GMGS with some MM add ons like Escape audiophile radio w/Sirius sat radio, rear sway bar, catback exhaust, and header panel.

See my garage file for part numbers and whatnot.

IMHO, this site- the members that I chat with- and the ones that I now Hang with- are like my 2nd family. There is such an ongoing welcome feeling here that even members who don't or no longer own the MM can feel.

The "tinnerman clips" are there for original assembly purposes only, so that the rotors don't drop off and fall on the workers' noggins while the car is moving down the production line.
