Smile Going in For A Little Operation.

I had a colnoscopy done about a month ago. They fround a lesion of pre cancerous cells. I went to see the surgeon today. I’m going next Thursday August 18th for out patient surgery at Frankford Hospital, Torresdale Div. He is going to do a colonoscopy and try to burn the lesion with a lazar. If he sees it’s impossible he will stop and schedule me for surgery at a later date. If he should burn a hole in the wall of my cecum, he will perform emergency surgery within an hour. He will do laparoscopic surgery where I would only have a very small incision. I would be in the hospital for 3-5 days and would have a 2 week recovery period. If the lazar works I’ll be home the same day and back to work on Friday Aug. 19th. I hope it works. Don't want to miss my Cruise Night!!!!

Anything that has the word "colon" in it can't be good. Hope it goes well and is minor inconvenience. With any luck you'll get some nice meds to "relax" you during the procedure.

    Ray:

I had the same procedure with great results. I am a big wimp compared to a tough guy like you. So, I know you will be alright! Keep us posted.

Ray there are quite a number of us "old dogs" who can empathize with you. We wish you well and hope that you are back to work as soon as physically possible.

Hey guys, Thanx. For you guys over 45, make sure you get a colnoscopy. It's not bad at all. That night, I never knew I had anything done. It's painless. I had my first at 48 and everything was great. Now six years later this. If I waited another six months it might have been cancer. If you're over 45, get it done. Catching it early is the key. It's the silient killer, there are no warning signs, you don't even realize anything is wrong!!!

A guy I work with is 62 and just had his first. They found a huge mass of precancerous lesions. He was cut wide open to remove his stomach to get to it. He was in the hospital for a week and out of work for six weeks. It's been eight weeks now, and he is still in pain from the incesion. Don't wait until it's too late. Ray

Good luck Ray. I had my secum and another 12" removed when I was 44. Recovery time isn't bad if they do it with a scope.

I've had a lot of folks around here tell me where to stick stuff, and recently too, but never a camera before. Save us some pics, Ray, I need to see what a perfect azzhole really looks like, and how much I really resemble that. I need to learn what the popular opinion compares me too...

All kidding aside, you give good advice, Ray, and I will be taking that advice in my upcoming annual physical. Best wishes, see you back here soon.
